When it comes to the oil and gas industry, we know firsthand that high-pressure pumps are more than just equipment—they're essential to safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. For nearly 30 years, we’ve been designing and building rugged high-pressure pump systems right here in Baton Rouge, LA. And in that time, we’ve seen just how critical the right pump solution can be—whether you’re testing pipeline integrity, injecting chemicals offshore, or simply keeping your facility clean and operating smoothly.
We’re proud to be part of this industry, and today we want to share a bit more about the role high-pressure pumps play, the challenges we help solve, and how our custom-built systems are making a difference in the field.
Who We Are
Hydro-Quip was founded in 1995 with a mission to provide dependable, high-performance pump systems to the Gulf South. Over the years, we’ve grown into a trusted supplier and manufacturer for oil and gas companies across Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, and beyond. We’re still family-owned and operated, and we pride ourselves on honest service, custom engineering, and products that are built to last.
Our systems are designed, fabricated, and tested in-house at our Baton Rouge facility. We use top-quality components—from Cat Pumps and valves to stainless steel fittings and durable hoses—so our customers can count on reliability in the harshest conditions.
What High-Pressure Pumps Do in the Oilfield
In oil and gas operations, pressure is everything. Whether you’re pumping produced water, performing hydrostatic tests, or injecting glycol offshore, you need a system that can deliver the right pressure and flow—without breaking down, leaking, or putting your crew at risk.
Here are a few ways our systems are used every day:
Hydrostatic Testing
Before a pipeline, vessel, or well component goes into service, it needs to be pressure-tested to confirm its integrity. We build systems specifically for hydro-testing, capable of generating up to 10,000 PSI or more, with precise control and safety relief options.
Chemical Injection
From gas dehydration (like TEG or MEG) to corrosion inhibitors and demulsifiers, chemical injection is essential to production. Our metering systems provide accurate dosing with pressure-rated components to handle aggressive fluids.
Crude Oil & Saltwater Transfer
High-pressure pumps are often used to move crude oil or dispose of saltwater from well sites. These applications demand rugged systems that can handle abrasive or corrosive fluids at high flow rates—and we engineer our skids accordingly.
BOP Accumulator Charging
For offshore and high-pressure drilling applications, we also build accumulator charging systems that help maintain safety and well control. These systems must meet strict API and offshore requirements, and we work closely with clients to ensure compliance.
Wash-Down & Rig Cleaning
Our wash-down systems are built for marine, rig, and industrial cleaning—powerful enough to remove built-up grime, scale, or hydrocarbons, but portable and easy to use.
Why Custom Systems Matter
One thing we’ve learned over the years is that no two customers—or applications—are alike. That’s why every system we build is tailored to fit the job.
When you come to us with a challenge, we don’t just hand you a catalog. We ask questions. We look at your pressure requirements, your fluid properties, your environment (onshore or offshore), and your compliance needs. Then we design a system that fits your application—and build it from the ground up.
Our team handles engineering, fabrication, plumbing, wiring, testing, and documentation all in-house. That means faster turnaround times, more quality control, and a level of flexibility you just don’t get with off-the-shelf solutions.
Our Process
Here’s what you can expect when working with us:
Consultation: We talk through your requirements and help define performance specs.
Design: Our engineers put together a detailed system layout based on your needs.
Fabrication: We build the system using heavy-duty frames, high-quality pumps, and field-proven components.
Testing: Every unit is pressure-tested and quality-checked before it ships.
Support: We deliver full documentation, schematics, and training as needed—and we’re always here for service down the line.
A Real-World Example
One of our offshore customers recently needed a portable unit for hydro-testing flowlines on a platform in the Gulf of Mexico. They needed a pump that could reach 5,000 PSI, survive the salt air, and be easy to operate with limited crew.
We built a skid-mounted system with a Cat Triplex pump, stainless steel fittings, dual pressure gauges, a safety relief valve, and weatherproof enclosures. We tested the unit here in Baton Rouge, delivered it to the dock, and even supported the crew with remote training. The job was completed safely, on time, and without a hitch.
That’s what we do every day—solve problems, keep crews safe, and help get the job done.
Why Our Clients Trust Us
We work hard to earn the trust of our clients, and we never take that trust for granted. Here’s why so many operators in the Gulf Coast choose Hydro-Quip:
Local, Responsive Service: Being based in Baton Rouge means we can respond quickly and personally. When you call, you talk to a real person who knows pumps—not a call center.
Built to Last: Our systems are designed for oilfield use—period. They’re tough, tested, and easy to maintain.
Parts & Service: We stock a wide range of pump parts, hoses, gauges, and accessories, and we offer full repair and rebuild services on-site.
Experience: With nearly three decades in the field, we understand the pressure—literally. We know what works, what doesn’t, and how to build systems that operators trust.
